Seattle

My favorite song...at least so far

Seattle by Jason Walker

Who else would be
Calling me at 3 am
Just to tell me
You're still there
The sky's still falling
Tell me what you
Need to hear this time to make it count
And to get you out of

Seattle, I don't know why
You stand under the clouds expecting to stay dry
Can't you see the day you'll ever win
That battle
Is the day they'll take the rain out of Seattle

He's still got that
Hold on you that makes you crazy
Your bags are packed
But you don't really plan on leaving
Why do you wait?
All that city does is bring you down
And you could get out of

Seattle, I don't know why
You stand under the clouds expecting to stay dry
Can't you see the day you'll ever win
That battle
Is the day they'll take the rain out of Seattle

Seattle...

Fall, fall, falling
Oh, the sky keeps falling
And it gets so heavy on your heart
Fall, fall, falling
Oh, the tears keep falling
And you keep staying where you are

Seattle, I don't know why
You stand under the clouds expecting to stay dry
Seattle, I don't know how
I'm supposed to help you if you won't leave town
Oh, can't you see the day you'll ever win
That battle
Is the day they'll take the rain out
The day they'll take the rain out of
Seattle
Seattle

Oh, can't you see
You'll never take the rain out of
Seattle
Seattle

Melbourne

Been eating so much lately. I'll be posting up photos of erm....food and melbourne. Here's a few to start with.

First up, Aux Batifolles in North Fitzroy. Neat little French place, great food.

The walls are lined with various menus from French restaurants of the past.

The menu:
Escargots De Bourgogne A L'ail: snails grilled with garlic, parsley and lemon butter
Confit De Canard Etson Maigret Poele Aux Figues: confil & crispy leg, pan sealed duck breast, served with Iran figs sauce
Lapin Farci Sauce Moutarde: de-boned rabbit, served with seeded mustard sauce and thick ribbon pasta
Profiteroles Au Chocolat
Warm Upside Down Apple "Tarte Tatin"
The shell looking pastry is a French chicken and crayfish pie

Traditional Vanilla "Grerne Brullee"

The following week we dropped by French Lettuce, a french patiserie famouse for their vanilla slice

Cheesecake, sticky date pudding and vanilla slice

The famouse vanilla slice, voted number one in melbourne. Though i prefer the one from Sorento better

As you can see it's not a very big place.

Well that's about it for now. I havent been taking much photos so i'll have to wait for photographers to upload them.

toodles

Bloggin from my new MacBook =)

Today marks my last day as a part timer. I am going to miss working in the hospitality sector very very much. It's hard work but it's really fun as well. Today before I left, the current owner at Plush gave me a chocolate cupcake and told me she thought I was the nicest girl there and she liked me a lot from the first day she met me, awwwwwww. And apparently, the previous owner told her that I was his favourite. That explains why he never yelled at me hehe. I wonder why though, I'm a horrible employee considering how many times I pissed my manager off =S.

I'm sitting on my bed typing, enjoying my soy chai. Drinks i'm into now, all thanks to my fantabulous coffee machine:-
Half soy latte (no proper name for it but it's basically cafe latte with half milk and half soy)
Soy chai
Hot chocolate made from expired Homebrand Cocoa powder and Milo

Ok, I'm starting work next Tuesday (4 day week ftw!). Can't say I'm excited. Excited was when I got the call about the offer. From then on, I've been scared, nervous and even feeling a lil bit regretful. I'm scared that I'm not good enough for this job, considering that I don't have the qualifications for it. The position I applied to was for a Software Engineer graduate. Yet, they hired me. My new boss; the guy i'll be reporting directly to; told me before they offered me the job that they're hiring me not because of my technical skills but because they liked me. Hmmm wait.... am I getting jobs just because people like me? I mean, there was once my manager wanted to fire me but the previous owner was against it. Anyway, now I'm just nervous coz new boss gave me some links to learn a new programming language, C# and I haven't started and it's almost Tuesday. Dad doesn't sound too happy bout this job coz he thinks the pay is not high enough and I'm supposed to take up a programming course and pay for it myself. Mum thinks the pay is not high enough as well. Keeps telling me to continue going for the grad program interviews and if I get in, ditch this job. So I told her, I can't exactly go for interviews now that I have a full time job as they're during business hours. I really wanted a R&D position but because of this (very subtle) pressure of getting a higher paying job, I can't enjoy this supposed achievement, meh!

OKay enough writting, this is starting to make my blog boring, pictures to come!

A little humour a day keeps the cancer away

This was a little humour in an article/tutorial I was reading on bug testing (for my interview tomorrow). I spose this will entertain you abit, elsh, while I'm busy job hunting.

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "Gripe Sheet,"which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Quantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident.

But never let it be said that Quantas ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded by maintenance engineers (marked with an S).

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

    P: Something loose in cockpit.
    S: Something tightened in cockpit.

    P: Dead bugs on windshield.
    S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
    S: Evidence removed.

    P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
    S: That's what they're for.

    P: IFF inoperative.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

    P: Suspected crack in windshield.
    S: Suspect you're right.

    P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

    P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

    P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

    P: Mouse in cockpit.
    S: Cat installed.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Mixtapes

I am re-liking this song for the n-th time. The melody is great, the lyrics is emo but not that emo. It's called Mixtape by Butch Walker.

You say hello, inside I'm screaming I love you
You say goodnight, in my mind
I'm sleeping next to you
You drive away from my car crash of a heart
And I don't know

But you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you

You talk to him, and it burns me like the sun
You talk to her, and you say that you feel like he's the one
I talk to me, but you can't hear the pain I feel
You don't know

Cause you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the sad songs ain't so sad
I only wish that there was more than that
About me and you

[Bridge]
Oh, don't turn around and say bye again
Yeah it crushes my head when you call me
Your friend and I'm not the same person
From back in the day in the back of the class
That you thought was gay
No I can't find the words cause I lost them
The minute they fell out of my mouth
And it's love and I'm in it, so give me your lips
And just let me kiss 'em
And let's get messed up and listen to probably...

The best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you
About me and you

It also reminds me of the best mixcd i have which i stole from my then-close-friend/driver/accommodation provider/music influence when i was in college. It remains my favourite mixcd to date. Its my feel good cd maybe coz i listened to it everyday when i was stressed out studying for SAM so it still has some soothing effect on me till now.

A year older and 2kilos heavier

hello there mateys! first post of the year. a lil late but i've been lazy again as usual. just got back from a run with my dog. he is old and slow and we got followed by a stray. now i am itching all over, i am so hoping i did not catch fleas from that mongrel. anyhoos read first paragraph for a summary of happenings if you're too lazy to read the rest. keep scrolling if you're a true friend or just plain have nothing better to do at work (like most people i know)

1. penang trip. ate 6 meals a day. almost died of a stroke thanks to stupid penang people who cant't drive.
2. alz birthday. once again FNL is (almost) reunited.
3. my birthday dinner at souled out. fantastic night with some fabulous ladies and their boyfs.
4. turkey dinner at my place.
5. everything after that is a blur
6. event of the year. had my cyst pricked by a needle and squeezed out by tweezers, while i was still freeking awake. lots of blood, some white stuff, and lots of tears. pain would be an understatement.

after the traumatizing experience in penang, we have sworn to honk at penang plate cars if we ever saw them in kl or seremban, just to make a statement (although i think the penang drivers will just think that seremban people like to honk at other people for no reason, or taurrettes in the form of car honking if you like)

And then there's the much anticipated reunion dinner. At least I was anticipating it not sure bout the rest. Will post up pictures as soon as i get them from the others. I have no photos from that night because everyone had their SLRs and canggih Lumix and Cannon cameras that my anorexic Sony , and i quote cv, "can go wallow in self pity". And we met jy's new boyf, who's quite sociable and seems to have something if not everything in common with everyone. Nice fella. Then after dinner we went for drinks as planned. Only in the plan the drinks were meant to be alcoholic. So 3 cakes and some coffee after, everyone went home happy. The girls except for cv and the new boyf stayed over at eu's place. Huge house. I kept ending up in the office instead of the room. I had a fabulous night. It was somewhat comforting seeing everyone get along so well and laughing and reliving good memories. Thank you you wonderful people. And thanks for the manicure!!

Turkey dinner was awesome because my mum is awesome and she is an awesome chef and the food was awesome because her sous chef, yours truly is awesome and all the guest who showed up were awesome and the dog behaved awesomely well and so hence, everything was awesome. And suddenly i remember a wise man saying, " don't say anything if you have nothing good to say"

Somewhere between number 1 and 3 was my cousin's 3rd birthday party which i attended and shared his cake with him because his birthday is a day before mine how cool! And also, there was the pathetic NYE countdown in Seremban's pub area. Cops came and shutdown all the pubs at 1am. Co'mon! Its NYE cut us some slack! So i was home by 2am and asleep by 3. pfft! next year i WILL go for NYE countdown at a more happening place.

No 6 i will not elaborate because i don't feel like reliving it. The doctor seemed to think it was a fun thing to do removing a cyst, says her hands get itchy everytime she sees one. I was in agony hello couldn't you tell woman!! Longest 30 seconds of my life. Now I'm back on steroid eye drops and some viscous eye drop which believe me when i tell you is effin bitter! I have to eat something after so if i put on weight I'm blaming the medication.

Yay i've finish Uni. On with a new chapter of my life. The working chapter ewww. At least my parents aren't rushing me to get a real job. Almost everyone i talked to asked if i've started looking for a job and when i say no i'm still too lazy and i want my holiday they look at me condescendingly cis! I've had a tiring year juggling uni and 2 jobs at the same time. The fact that i have 2 internal assessment means constant homework (which have paid off woo h1 for both). And for some reason i've decided to be delinquent this semester and do everything last minute. Okay i dono where i'm heading with this but the point is, I WANT MY 1 MONTH HOLIDAY!!! So be considerate the next time you ask me if i have a job yet, kapish? So many places i wana go, Hong Kong, London, Italy. Can't do it with a job, can't do it without a job.
Ok job hunting soon... soon. (Procrastinators: Leaders of tomorrow)

deeelideee i'll be back soon. stay tuned
